On January 22, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, sent a telegram of condolences to the President of the Republic of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to the Tajik president’s website.

The telegram, in particular, reads:

"Your Excellency,

“We were deeply saddened by the news of the death and injury of a large number of people as a result of a fire at the Kartalkaya resort hotel in the Bolu province of the Republic of Turkiye.

“In connection with this tragic incident, I would like to express my sincere condolences and sympathy to you, the friendly people of Turkiye, and the relatives and families of the deceased, and I wish a full recovery to all those injured.”

A fire broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the ski resort of Kartalkaya in Turkiye’s Bolu Province on January 21, 2025.  At least 76 people were killed, while 51 others were injured.

Around 267 emergency personnel, 30 fire trucks, and 28 ambulances were deployed to the scene.  The fire was put out after 12 hours.
