On March 18, during the final sitting of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) of the sixth convocation, the lawmakers, now former lawmakers, ratified the state border agreement with Kyrgyzstan and two other documents related to the border.

This marks the last session for some of the Majlisi Namoyandagon members as tomorrow, March 19, the first sitting of the first session of the newly elected Majlisi Namoyandagon of the seventh convocation will take place, and its new members will begin their work.

According to the Majlisi Namoyandagon press office, during the final session, which was attended by most of the Majlisi Namoyandagon members, the Agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan on the state border between the two countries was ratified.

Additionally, the lawmakers also ratified two other border-related documents:

  • The Agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan on the construction and use of highways, road improvements, and the use of intercity intersections.
  • The Government-to-Government Agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan on ensuring access to water and energy infrastructure.
