As a result of operational-investigative measures, three residents of Vakhsh district in Khatlon province were arrested on suspicion of stealing 10 motorcycles from local residents, an official source within the Interior Ministry’s Office in Khatlon told Asia-Plus in an interview. 

“After numerous complaints from local residents, an operational group was created to investigate these crimes, and as a result, a 29-year-old Hakimali Kholmurodov, a 26-year-old Asadullo Alisherov, and a 21-year-old Jamoliddin Shamayev were arrested on suspicion of being involved in these crimes," the source said.

They are reportedly suspected of 10 thefts of various types of motorcycles, including Suzuki, Utka, BMW, and a sports motorcycle FG-150.  The total value of the stolen motorcycles is approximately 100,000 somonis (US$9,300), the source added.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the suspects under Article 244 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code  – theft; an investigation is under way
