An international paragliding competition titled Open Sky will take place from 26 April to 4 May 2025 in the scenic foothills of Khurramzamin, Danghara District, Khatlon province.  The event, held under the auspices of the President’s Cup, will feature top-level athletes competing in precision landing and cross-country disciplines.

Competitors and guests from across Europe, Asia, the United States, the CIS and other regions are expected to attend. The competition is set to highlight not only the natural beauty of Tajikistan, but also its growing reputation as a destination for adventure tourism.

Khurramzamin, with its pristine air, dramatic landscapes, and favorable flying conditions, has been selected as the ideal venue for the event. Athletes will compete while flying the flags of their nations, contributing to an atmosphere of international camaraderie.

The official opening ceremony on April 26 will include a flag parade of participating countries, artistic performances, and an aerial display by an AN-24 aircraft.  The event is expected to attract members of the diplomatic corps and international organizations based in Tajikistan.

 

Organizers include:

 • Federation of Paragliding and Ultralight Aircraft of Tajikistan

 • The Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of Tajikistan

 • State Unitary Enterprise “Dipservice”

 • Investment and Credit Bank, Tajikistan (ICB) — official co-organizer and principal sponsor

 

Key program highlights:

 • April 26–28: Precision landing (parachuting and paragliding)

 • April 28l: Precision landing awards ceremony

 • April 29 – May 4: Cross-country paragliding (50–60 km routes, launches from 1,900m altitude)

 • Throughout: Masterclasses by international athletes, cultural evenings with traditional music and Tajik cuisine, as well as informal gatherings and Q&A sessions with the participants

 

Speaking ahead of the event, President of Federation Abdullo Khayrulloyev said: “This is more than a competition — it is an opportunity to position Tajikistan as a global hub for adventure sports. We hope every guest departs with lasting memories and a deep appreciation for Tajikistan’s natural beauty.”

The Federation and ICB extend a warm invitation to local and international media, travel bloggers, tourists, and all enthusiasts of extreme and aerial sports to take part in what promises to be a remarkable celebration of sport and culture.
