The first meeting of the heads of intelligence services from Central Asian countries was held in Tashkent yesterday, with the participation of the head of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan (SCNS), Saymumin Yatimov.

Kun.uz, citing Uzbekistan’s National Security Service (NSS)’s press center, reports that the first meeting of the heads of intelligence services of Central Asian nations was organized as part of Uzbekistan's presidency at the 7th consultative meeting of the heads of state of the region.

The heads of security agencies and intelligence services from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan also arrived in Uzbekistan.

At the opening, a message from the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was read, emphasizing that dialogue among intelligence leaders contributes to the formation of unified approaches and effective mechanisms for ensuring regional security.

Citing the press service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of Kyrgyzstan, media outlets report that the meeting also focused on developing unified approaches to assess current threats and challenges, as well as improving the effectiveness of cooperation in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug and arms trafficking, transnational crime, and cyber threats.

Participants reportedly discussed the current state and prospects for ensuring regional security, exchanged analytical data and information about current threats, and identified areas for further cooperation of mutual interest.

Special attention was given to issues of joint efforts to address challenges arising from unstable regions.

It was noted that following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to hold similar consultations regularly and emphasized the importance of maintaining and developing such a format of regional cooperation.

A statement released by Kyrgyzstan’s GKNB following the meeting, in particular, says the Kyrgyz side, in particular, confirmed its commitment to the principles of good-neighborliness, open dialogue, and joint efforts to ensure peace and stability in Central Asia.
