The Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan has announced the upcoming dust storm.

According to the report, from April 30 to May 2, dust storms are expected in the southwestern and central regions of Khatlon province, as well as in districts subordinate to the center (RRP) and Dushanbe.  

"As a result, the air will be polluted with suspended dust particles PM-10 and PM-2.5," the Emergencies Committee stated.

In this regard, the Emergencies Committee urges the public to pay special attention to those suffering from cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, bronchial asthma, and hypertension.

The Emergencies Committee also reminds that during such days, particular care should be taken regarding health:

  • Drink plenty of clean water — at least 2–2.5 liters per day.
  • Keep windows closed. If you need to ventilate a room, it is better to do it after noon.
  • Close windows with damp gauze or mesh.
  • Perform wet cleaning at home and humidify the air.
  • Regularly rinse your nose and gargle.

In addition, according to meteorologists, due to a sharp rise in temperatures, localized mudflows may occur in some areas of the country and in the western part of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).

In case of an emergency, the Emergencies Committee asks people to call 112 or the emergency hotline of the Committee at -223-13-11, 93 880 28 19.
