Tajikistan’s Agency for Overseas Employment has announced that 600 citizens are being recruited for jobs in South Korea under a bilateral labor agreement. According to the agency, positions are available in construction, manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, and other sectors.

Requirements for applicants

To be eligible, candidates must meet the following criteria: age between 18 and 39; basic knowledge of Korean (conversational level); professional qualification certificate; no criminal record; and good physical and mental health.

The agency stated that salaries vary by profession, with some positions offering up to US$4,000 per month.

“Welders can earn between US$3,000 to US$4,000, while salaries for other professions start at US$1,500 to US$2,000.  Workers must cover their own travel expenses to South Korea, but upon arrival, Korean employers will cover all living costs, including accommodation and meals,” the agency representative told Asia-Plus.

Background: bilateral agreement in effect

The final agreement between Tajikistan and South Korea allowing the formal deployment of labor migrants was signed on October 31, 2024.  Tajik authorities hope the deal will help reduce unemployment in the country and open a new labor market for Tajik workers.

Several groups of Tajik workers have already departed for Korea under the program.
