The Presidents of Tajikistan and Mongolia engaged in high-level discussions to enhance bilateral relations, focusing on trade, agriculture, and regional cooperation.  The talks were held following a formal welcoming ceremony for Mongolia’s President, accompanied by an official delegation, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon warmly welcomed his Mongolian counterpart, highlighting Tajikistan’s commitment to deepening ties with Mongolia across various sectors.  Rahmon expressed confidence that the discussions would provide a positive push toward strengthening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

The two leaders underscored the importance of high-level political dialogue and agreed to enhance inter-parliamentary relations.  The establishment of a Joint Inter-Parliamentary Friendship and Cooperation Group was seen as a vital step in broadening cooperation between the two nations.

In the economic sphere, both sides agreed to work on a Cooperation Program and Sectoral Strategy to boost trade turnover in the near future.  The creation of a Tajik-Mongolian Business Council was also proposed, aimed at facilitating regular meetings, business exchanges, and exhibitions to promote bilateral trade.

Key sectors discussed for potential collaboration included agriculture, particularly livestock, as well as the processing industry, mining, and the food industry.  The two countries also explored ways to promote the “green” agenda and sustainable development goals.

Tourism emerged as another priority area, with Rahmon emphasizing Tajikistan's opportunities in mountaineering, ecological, and health tourism. Strengthening regional cooperation was also identified as a strategic priority, with both sides advocating for more direct economic links between their respective regions.

The leaders acknowledged the vital role of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, which is expected to begin its activities soon to further facilitate bilateral relations.

Cultural and humanitarian ties were also high on the agenda, with discussions focusing on cooperation in science, education, media, youth policy, and sports. Both leaders agreed to continue collaborative efforts on global and regional issues, particularly within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations.

Rahmon expressed his gratitude for Mongolia’s ongoing support of Tajikistan’s global initiatives on water and climate issues and emphasized the need for practical cooperation to address emerging security threats.

This meeting marks a significant step in advancing the partnership between Tajikistan and Mongolia, paving the way for enhanced collaboration in a range of sectors that will benefit both countries.
