A 24-year-old citizen of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Gill Dawood, has been arrested in Dushanbe on suspicion of fraud.  Authorities allege he deceived local residents by falsely promising assistance in obtaining visas to European countries.

The press center of the Dushanbe Police Directorate reports that the suspect collected money from multiple individuals, assuring them of quick visa approvals.  However, he failed to deliver on his promises and allegedly pocketed the funds for personal use.

Gill Dawood was apprehended following complaints from several victims.  A preliminary investigation into the case is currently underway.

Police have urged anyone who may have been defrauded by the suspect to contact law enforcement at +992 018-020202.

This incident follows a similar case earlier this year, in which a company operating in Tajikistan was exposed for offering fake job placements in the United Kingdom.

At least 69 citizens were scammed, suffering a collective financial loss of nearly 2 million somoni.

The British and German embassies in Dushanbe have repeatedly warned citizens not to trust unofficial job offers in Europe and to avoid using intermediaries when applying for visas.
