President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held talks with President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian during the SCO summit. The meeting took place on September 1 in Tianjin, China.

Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the increasing contacts and meetings of the parties at the highest levels, the press service of the head of state reported.

The parties paid great attention to the expansion of trade and economic ties, cooperation in the fields of energy, international transportation, science and innovation, agriculture, healthcare and other sectors of mutual interest.

The Presidents positively assessed the abolition of the visa regime between Tajikistan and Iran, which has played a significant role in the development of tourism, trade, transport, culture and medicine in the two countries.

The sides exchanged views on the current difficult and unstable situation in the Middle East region. The President of the Republic of Tajikistan expressed gratitude to the Iranian leadership for supporting Tajikistan's initiative to establish the SCO Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe.

On the same day, Emomali Rahmon met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The interlocutors discussed topical issues of bilateral relations, exchanged views on the results of the SCO summit, and selected issues on the international and regional agenda. The two leaders also discussed issues of upcoming contacts on a high-level.
