There have been several high-profile cases of violence against children in Tajikistan recently. One of the most notorious was the death of 15-year-old teenager Khusrav Odinev, who was mutilated to death by his own father. He tied his son by the legs to the car and dragged him for several meters. The teenager was seriously injured and died on the same day.

The Commissioner for Human Rights in Tajikistan, Umed Bobozoda, and the Children's Ombudsman, Mijgona Bobojonzoda, expressed concern about the increased violence against children and their deaths at the hands of their own parents.

According to the Office of the Commissioner for Children's Rights in Tajikistan, violence against children in the country remains an acute and alarming problem. According to this agency, in the first six months of 2025 alone, the level of child abuse increased by 30%.
