Russian Railways (RZD) has announced the extension of its 50% discount on the transportation of fruit and vegetable products from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The discount, in effect since 2021, will continue through 2026, according to the company’s press service.

The preferential rates apply to shipments in refrigerated containers owned by the railway companies Uzbekiston Temir Yullari (Uzbekistan’s railway company) and Rohi Ohani Tojikiston (Tajik Railways). The initiative aims to strengthen trade and economic ties and support agricultural exporters from Central Asia.

In addition, RZD will maintain several other special tariff conditions:

  • A 20.4% discount on shipments in refrigerated containers from Selyatino station (Moscow region) to Sergeli and Jizzakh stations in Uzbekistan via the Kanisay border checkpoint. The same discount applies to return shipments via the Ozinki checkpoint.
  • Discounts remain in effect for exports passing through Russian-Kazakh border points, facilitating cargo flows to China via the Dostyk–Alashankou and Altynkol–Khorgos rail crossings.
  • A 20% discount will apply to export-import container shipments via the Bolashak–Serkhetyaka border (Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan), part of the North–South International Transport Corridor (ITC).
  • For exports of grain and legumes along the eastern route of the North–South ITC — passing through Kazakh and Turkmen stations Sarakhs and Akyayla — an 8.9% discount will remain valid until the end of 2030.

These measures are intended to strengthen transportation links between Central Asia, Russia, and Iran, while also supporting regional trade and sustainable economic cooperation.

According to RZD, a total of 5.6 million tons of cargo were transported by rail in Tajikistan over the first nine months of 2025 — a 16.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
