On December 12, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon addressed the International Forum on Peace and Trust in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, held as part of the “International Year of Peace and Trust, 2025,” according to the Tajik president’s official website.

At the outset of his remarks, President Rahmon expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan and the United Nations for organizing the forum and congratulated the people of Turkmenistan on the 30th anniversary of the country’s permanent neutrality.

In his speech, the Tajik leader noted that the global community is facing complex geopolitical competition and a weakening of international legal norms, warning that the growing number of threats and challenges in today’s world is slowing economic and social progress.

He emphasized that peace and trust play a crucial role in strengthening international relations, reducing risks and threats, and creating favorable conditions for cooperation and sustainable development worldwide.

According to President Rahmon, peace and trust make it possible to address the complex problems of the modern world in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and shared responsibility.

He also stressed that the negative consequences of environmental threats — including climate change, the rapid melting of glaciers, environmental pollution, and related challenges — require joint and coordinated action by the international community.

President Rahmon recalled the Dushanbe global processes on water and counterterrorism, underscoring Tajikistan’s ongoing contribution to addressing global challenges. He reaffirmed that Tajikistan consistently supports all initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and security worldwide.

In this context, he reiterated Tajikistan’s proposal to the United Nations, submitted last year, to declare a “Decade for Strengthening Peace in the World for Future Generations.”

Concluding his address, President Rahmon described the “triumph of peace” as a guarantee of justice, equality, and respect for human rights and freedoms, and called on the international community to approach this value with responsibility, relying on trust, dialogue, and cooperation.

He emphasized that Tajikistan stands ready to continue making a meaningful contribution to security, stability, and sustainable development through constructive dialogue, established diplomatic traditions, and other peaceful means.
