This year, President Emomali Rahmon addressed a joint meeting of both chambers of parliament on December 16.

Heads of all provinces, cities and districts as well as ministries and agencies have been invited to attend the meeting.

All Tajik national television and radio channels broadcast the president’s annual address.  Students of higher educational institutions as well as senior students of high schools are gathered in their institutions’ auditoriums to watch Rahmon’s annual address.

As usual, Emomali Rahmon touched on a number of social and economic issues in the televised version of his address.

Concerning the country’s foreign policy, the President, particular, noted in his address that the complex situation in various regions of the world, intensifying geopolitical and geoeconomic rivalries over the redistribution of global power, the rise of a new "Cold War," escalating militarization, the weakening of international legal norms, and other contradictory processes in the international arena remain causes for concern.

“In this challenging environment, it is crucial for us to not only actively participate in global processes but also to intensify our efforts, in collaboration with the international community, to achieve constructive goals—maintaining peace, stability, and ensuring comprehensive security,” the head of state said.

“In implementing the Concept of Foreign Policy of the Republic of Tajikistan, we will continue our international activities aimed at expanding political relations and fostering diverse cooperation with countries around the world. Our approach will be based on trust, mutual respect for interests, and the "open doors" policy.

“In parallel, practical measures will be taken to strengthen and develop multifaceted relations in trade, economics, as well as in the cultural and humanitarian spheres.

“Overall, Tajikistan remains committed to expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation with countries and partner organizations and will continue to actively engage in various global processes in the future.”
