On December 19, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held talks with Emperor Naruhito of Japan in Tokyo, focusing on the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries. The discussions covered areas of trade, economics, culture, humanitarian cooperation, and more.

According to the press service of the Tajik president, the meeting highlighted the broad scope of cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan, covering a wide range of mutual interests.

President Rahmon emphasized Japan's support for small and medium-sized projects in infrastructure, transport, energy, agriculture, and ecology. He also acknowledged Japan's role in human resource development, healthcare, and sanitation. The two leaders exchanged views on various other issues of mutually beneficial cooperation.

On the same day, Emomali Rahmon held a meeting in Tokyo with Taro Aso, Deputy Leader of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party and former Prime Minister of Japan.

The Tajik president’s official website says during the meeting, the two leaders discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, as well as the role of the "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue in strengthening ties between Tajikistan and Japan.

President Rahmon praised Taro Aso's significant contribution to the growth of Tajik-Japanese relations, acknowledging his role in advancing the partnership between the two countries.

The President also highlighted the important contributions of the Japanese government in implementing key projects in infrastructure, water supply, healthcare, energy capacity building, and human resource development in Tajikistan.

The discussion also covered other matters of mutual interest, with both sides engaging in a constructive exchange on various topics.
