Rahmonov leaves for Sochi to attend informal EAEC summit

DUSHANBE, August 15, Asia-Plus — Tajik resident Emomali Rahmonov today morning left for the Russian resort city of Sochi to attend informal meeting of heads of member nations of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC).  

According to presidential press service, Deputy Prime Minister Asadullo Ghulomov, Foreign Minister Talbak Nazarov, Energy Minister Abdullo Yorov, State Adviser to the Tajik President for International Matters Erkin Rahmatulloyev, the National Bank (NBT) head Murodali Alimardonov, and other officials are accompanying Rahmonov on this trip. 

The creation of Customs Union within the Community and further perspectives of development of the EAEC top the agenda of the informal EAEC summit in Sochi. Leaders of the EAEC states are also supposed to discuss issues related to formation of a common energy market of the Community as well as water-energy regulation in Central Asia and the creation of the Eurasian water-energy consortium.  The presidents also will exchange views on the EAEC member nations’ joining the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other topical issues related to enhancement of the Community’s activity. 

The informal summit in Sochi will pay a special attention to extending interaction between member countries of the Community and member nations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).  The meeting also will discuss issues related to Uzbekistan’s admission to the CSTO.
