Tajikistan’s FEZs reportedly produce over 17.356 mlnsomoni worth of output in 2012

DUSHANBE, January 17, 2013, Asia-Plus – In 2012, free economic zones (FEZs)

Sughd

and

Danghara

produced a total of more than 17.356 million somoni (equivalent to more than 3.6 million U.S. dollars) worth of output.  More than 98 percent of this amount came from FEZ

According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, six corporate residents of FEZ

Sughd

, including joint ventures Star Plast and SilkoatBoya, limited liability companies Real, Nekon and DustiAmirkhon as well as joint-stock company Sirandoud, produced a total of 17.0397 million somoni worth of output last year.

As far as FEZ

Danghara

is concerned, only one of two corporate residents registered with zone, U & F Service, worked in 2012 and it produced 316,600 somoni worth of output last year.

Two other Tajik free economic zones –

Ishkashim

and

Panj

– did not work last year.

The Sughd Free Economic Zone or FEZ

Sughd

is a free economic zone located in SughdProvince on the territory of the south-west industrial zone of the city of Khujand.  FEZ

Sughd

was created in 2008 by a parliamentary decree on 320 hectares of land for 25 years and began operating in August 2009.  In 2010, the Administration of the FEZ

Sughd

registered first five corporate residents of the free economic zone.  To-date, 18 corporate residents have been registered with the FEZ

.  The zone offers customs and tax incentives to qualified investors that invest at least 500,000 USD and import at least 90% of the technology and equipment.

The Panj Free Economic Zone or FEZ

Panj

is a free economic zone in KhatlonProvince in southern Tajikistan.  FEZ

Panj

was created on 401.6 hectares of land for 25 years.  To-date, six corporate residents have been registered with zone. 

The Danghara Free Economic Zone or FEZ

Danghara

is a free economic zone located in the Danghara district, KhatlonProvince.  FEZ

Danghara

was created on 521.3 hectares of land.

The Ishkashim Free Economic Zone or FEZ

Ishkashim

is a free economic zone located in the Ishkashim district, the GornoBadakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).  FEZ

Ishkashim

was created on 200 hectares of land.
