Counternarcotics agency’s office for Sughd reports large hashish haul
DUSHANBE, March 19, 2013, Asia-Plus — Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office for Sughd have reportedly seized a large amount of hashish.
According to the DCA press center, a 39-year-old resident of the Bobojonghafurov district was arrested on suspicion of having involved in drug pushing on March 19. 60 packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing more than 30 kilograms were confiscated from.
An additional operation carried out by the drug control officers in the northern city of Khujand on the same led to the arrest of his alleged accomplice.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug peddlers under the provisions of Article 200 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – drug trafficking; an investigation is under way.
