DUSHANBE, April 30, 2013, Asia-Plus — The government heard reports by regional administrators at an April 29 meeting, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon.
According to the president’s official website, the head of Khovaling district in Khatlon province reported on development of livestock sector in the area.
He, in particular, noted that the total number of cattle and the total number of sheep and goats rose 188 and 179 percent respectively over the period from 2000 to 2012. Of 2,228 farming units operating in Khovaling, 102 are engaged in livestock farming.
Khovaling reportedly has 3,000 hectares of irrigated lands, but 1,500 hectares of them are left unused.
The head of Jabborrasoulov district in Sughd province reported on implementation of the country’s laws on local authorities and rural self-governing bodies in the district.
The government also considered and endorsed draft laws on making amendments to laws on audit activity, on courts, on local authorities, on prosecutor’s offices, on public health, etc.
The meeting approved municipal redevelopment plans for the cities of Isfara and Istaravshan in Sughd province and the strategy of introduction of international financial reporting standards and international auditing standards in Tajikistan in 2013-2018.
The meeting also endorsed government’s decrees to establish Danghara State University, Teachers’ Training Institute in Rasht district and the National Public Health Laboratory of Tajikistan.
