DUSHANBE, May 3, 2013, Asia-Plus – By-election will take place in the Vose constituency on May 5.
We will recall that representatives of two political parties and two self-propelled candidates will participate in the parliamentarian by-election in Vose.
The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Agrarian Party (APT) have nominated their candidates to run in the parliamentary by-election in the Vose district, Khatlon province.
A joint conference of PDP’s primary organizations in Vose, Temourmalik and Khovaling districts has approved candidacy of Ibodullo Nematov. Ibodullo Nematov is head of the Jamoat named after Michurin in the Vose district (the jamoats of Tajikistan refer to the third-level administrative divisions, similar to communes or municipalities, in Tajikistan).
The APT has nominated Zayniddin Safarov, deputy director of the Special Property Procurement Agency under the Government of Tajikistan.
Besides, two self-propelled candidates, Rajabi Mirzo and Jourabek Qurbonov, will participate in the parliamentary by-election in Vose. Rajabi Mirzo is a known Tajik journalist and Jourabek Qurbonov is an unaffiliated person (he is head of the Kulob social protection department).
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) said that it would not participate in by-election in the Vose constituency. The IRp representatives say that there is no speaking about fair and transparent elections when representatives of political parties are not allowed to work with polling stations.
By president’s decree member of the Agrarian Party of Tajikistan Rustam Latipov, who was representing the Vose district in the parliament, was appointed acting chairperson of the Vose district, Khatlon province. Under the country’s legislation, Rustam Latipov resigned his seat in the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament).
