KULOB, September 20, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Dangerous criminal was detained in Kulob on September 19. 

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Lieutenant-Colonel Azimjon Umurzoqov, said that local resident S. Qurbonov had been detained for killing his neighbor.  

According to him, the murder was committed in 2002 already.  “Qurbonov stabbed his neighbor to death following quarrel,” said Umurzoqov.  “He was detained the same day but managed to escape during investigation.  Qurbonov fled the country for Russia, where he lived for five years; however, his name was on the list of those wanted by police and the operation work has been continued.”  Qurbonov was detained when he arrived in Kulob, he said.

The Kulob police official further added that of 50 persons wanted by police, 27 have been detained by Kulob police officers since the beginning of this year.
