Dushanbe. 23 August. “Asia-Plus” – United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime extended the term of support for the Tajik drug-control agency until 2016.

Public Relations Department of the Drug-Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan, the Agency’s Director, Lieutenant-General Rustam Nazarov, was informed about it during his meeting with the UNODC Regional Representative in Central Asia, Alexander Sychev.

The main objective of the meeting was discussion of perspectives of parties’ further cooperation.

Among the issues discussed were cooperation in fighting drug trafficking and prevention of drug addiction spread, as well as implementation process of UNODC Project “Drug-Enforcement Agency of the Republic of Tajikistan – Phase III,” which is ending at the end of 2013, and on cooperation with CARICC on fighting drug trafficking.

The drug-enforcement agency’s press-center also informs that the Director of the Agency has also met with the UN General Secretary Representative on Preventive Diplomacy, Ambassador Miroslav Encha.

During the meeting initiated by the UN Regional Center on Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, the Agency Director introduced the Ambassador to the drug situation in Tajikistan, Afghanistan, as well as the Central Asian Region.
