DUSHANBE, October 29, 2013, Asia-Plus — On October 24, Tajik Ambassador to Qatar Ardahser Qodiri met in Doha with Qatari Finance Minister Ali Shareef al-Emadi, who is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar National Bank (QNB).
According to the Tajik MFA information department, the sides discussed a broad range of issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar as well as the process of implementation of the Qatar-sponsored projects in Tajikistan.
They, in particular, discussed the construction of luxury housing towers (Diar Dushanbe Project) in Dushanbe and the conduction phase of what is projected to be the largest mosque in the former Soviet Union.
President Emomali Rahmon laid a foundation stone for construction of the mosque back in 2009, when the project was expected to take five years. The mosque in the Tajik capital is expected to accommodate 115,000 worshippers, and costs 100 million USD. Dushanbe will pay 30 million USD; the rest is financed by Qatar.
Tajik construction company, Somon-Sokhtmon, is implementing the mosque construction project.
