KHOROG, September 1, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Two persons were killed on August 28 as a vehicle UAZ3962 (minivan) fell into the Bartang River in GBAO’s Rushan district, according to the GBAO police directorate. 

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Mizrob Dorobov, a spokesman for the GBAO police directorate, said that the accident took place near the village of Rid Thursday afternoon.  According to him, the vehicle moving from the Rushan administrative center to the Bartang Valley fell into the Bartang River.  Two passengers, Bunafsha Davlatmamadova and her 7-year-old daughter, were killed in the traffic accident.  Their bodies were found in the river near the village of Shujand last Sunday.   The cause of the accident is under investigation. 

Fifteen traffic accidents registered in Gorno Badakhshan since the beginning of this year have left nine dead and seventeen injured, the spokesman said.
