DUSHANBE, August 16, 2008, Asia-Plus — A 21-year-old Tajik boxer Anvar Yunusov has qualified for a place in the quarterfinal in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Boxing in the flyweight division (-51 kilograms).

Anvar Yunusov secured his place in the quarterfinal today, by defeating Robernilson Veera of Brazil 12-6, Asia-Plus ahs learned from Narzullo Latifov, head of the Association of Sports Commentator of Tajikistan. 

We will recall that another Tajik boxer – Jahon Qurbonov, participating in the light-heavyweight category (-81 kilograms) – advanced to the quarterfinal on August 14, by beating Mario Sivolya (phonetically spelled) of Croatia 8-1.  Qurbonov defeated light-heavyweight champion of Chicago 2007, Abbos Atoyev of Uzbekistan 11-3 in his first match on August 9.    

In the next fight that will be held on August 19, Qurbonov will face a tough opponent, Kazakhstan”s Yerkebulan Shynaliyev.  Shynaliyev is the bronze medalist in last year”s World Championships.
