DUSHANBE, December 26, Asia-Plus – On Tuesday December 26, Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev received Tsuy Resheng (phonetically spelled), director general of the cellular operator TK-Mobile.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, told Asia-Plus that in the course of the talks the TK-Mobile director general had suggested that a centralized complex of TK-Mobile should be built in Dushanbe to enhance system of serving its customers.
For his part, the mayor seconded this initiative and said that the company should make an official application to the mayor’s office on this subject.
We will recall that China Development Bank (CDB) has provided US$70 million in loan to TK-Mobile for purchasing a new telecommunications system and installing it in Tajikistan.
Cellular operator TK-Mobile was launched in 2005 as Tajik-Chinese joint venture. TK-Mobile is the first operator in Tajikistan to provide cellular communications in the CDMA-2000 1X standard. Tajikistan owns 49 percent of the shares and the Chinese company ZTE assumes the 51% ownership interest in the closed joint-stock company TK-Mobile.
