DUSHANBE, September 22, 2014, Asia-Plus — On Saturday September 20,Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimozoda met here with Vice-Minister of Public Security of China, Li Wei, who is also director of National Anti-Terrorism Leading Office.

According to the Tajik Interior Ministry’s official website, the sides discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism, extremism, separatism ad trafficking in drugs and weapons.

A special attention was given to implementation of a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Interior of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Public Security of China, the source said.

The two reportedly also discussed the issue of conducting joint exercises for subunits of the Ministry of Interior of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Public Security of China in mountain areas of Tajikistan.

The Ministry of Public Security of the People”s Republic of China (MPS) is the principal police and security authority of the mainland of the People”s Republic of China and the government agency that exercises oversight over and is ultimately responsible for day-to-day law enforcement. As the main domestic security agency in the People”s Republic of China, the MPS is the equivalent of the National Police Agency in Japan or national police in other countries.  It also controls and administers the People”s Armed Police.
