DUSHANBE, December 3, 2014, Asia-Plus —  Deputies of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) have unanimously endorsed a draft law on diplomatic service.

A regular sitting of the sixth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on December 3.

Presenting the bill, Deputy Foreign Minister, Parviz Davlatzoda, noted that foreign nationals and stateless persons do not have the right to work in Tajikistan’s diplomatic service.

According to him, the law provides for earmarking funds to pay for diplomats’ children attending kindergartens and schools abroad.

“The law also provides for earmarking funds for medical treatment of Tajik diplomats serving abroad,” the deputy minister noted.

Besides, salaries of Tajik diplomats serving in hot spots will be raised by 20 percent, Davlatzoda added.

The session also discussed and endorsed the bill proposing amendments to the country’s law on the copyright.
