DUSHANBE, February 25, 2015, Asia-Plus — The Interior Ministry traffic police department has put a temporary ban on night time traffic along the Dushanbe-Khujand highway because of bad weather conditions.

“The night time traffic ban will stay in effect until the situation improves,” an official source at the Interior Ministry traffic police department told Asia-Plus in an interview.

We will recall that avalanches caused by abrupt warming and heavy snowfall have killed at least five people in Sughd province since February 22.

Unseasonably warm temperatures in mountain valleys earlier this month caused snow to melt, and weather forecasters warn that temperatures could rise again this week after falling to freezing, increasing the danger of avalanches.
