DUSHANBE, May 23, Asia-Plus — On Thursday May 22, President Emomali Rahmon visited a number of farming units in the Hissor district to familiarize himself with a progress of sowing campaign, according to presidential press service.
During his stay in Hissor, the president held a meeting with district administrators and agrarian scientists to discuss issues related to his commission on harvesting grains and vegetables and providing food security.
In the Farm named after Latif Mirzoyev, the president highly appraised the pace of wheat-sowing campaign. The farm managers said that local farmers had planted the wheat sort “Lastochka” and hope to have harvests of up to 8 tons/ha.
The Farm named after Latif Mirzoyev is engaged in growing wheat, barley, rice, vegetables, watermelons, melons and gourds, seed cotton, as well as animal husbandry.
Local farmers plant the best wheat and barley sorts and hope to have harvests of up to 9 tons/ha, and some sorts provide wheat harvest of even 12 ton/ha, the press service said.
The president charged the district administrators to stock up 8,000 tons of high-quality seed wheat for the state reserve.
Rahmon also visited the dairy at the Farm named after Latif Mirzoyev to get acquainted with conditions of work and preparations for the autumn-winter season.
The farm’s livestock breeders intend to provide 1,014 tons of milk to the Dushanbe dairy factory this year.
Pedigree cattle of the farm are considered gene pool of cattle breeds in the country. The district has 6,400 head of this cattle breed and last year, 429 head were sold to stock-farms in Shahrinav, Rasht, and Jomi districts.
The district administration was also charged to construct new spinning factory and cannery, presidential press service said.
