Dushanbe. 28 August. “Asia Plus” — On August 27th, 2015, a joint signing ceremony of 2 new GGP projects was held at the Japan Embassy in Dushanbe. The contracts were signed between Mr. Takashi KAMADA, Ambassador of Japan in the Republic of Tajikistan, and the representatives of 2 beneficiary organizations.

The 2 new projects, funded fully under the framework of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects “GGP”, are:

“The Project for the Renovation of the Central Clinic of Rushon District” signed with Mr. Khudoyor KHUDOYOROV, Chairperson of Rushon District, for the amount of US$ 86, 103.

“The Project for the Renovation of the Main Building and Construction of an Additional Building for the Central Clinic of Murghob District” signed with Mr. Mirzabay JOSHBAEV, Chairperson of Murghob District, for the amount of US$ 88,849.

During the ceremony, Mr. Kamada spoke about Japan’s GGP projects that are aimed at the contributing of the sustainable development of Tajikistan. The GGP projects are implemented throughout the country and work towards the improvement of infrastructure, education, medical care and job opportunities. In his remarks at the ceremony, the Ambassador noted that “these projects play an important role in the strengthening of the bilateral partnership between the Republic of Tajikistan and Japan, and I wish that the beneficiary organizations will make a great contribution to the improvement of their communities’ lives through these projects.” 

The Government of Japan continues its support for creating a better society for all the people and it is committed to working together with the people of Tajikistan. 

Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is provided to local governments, educational/ medical institutions and International NGOs in developing countries. GGP supports projects in the human security sectors at the grassroots level. As of today, GGP has supported 343 projects in the Republic of Tajikistan, for which more than US$ 27 million has been provided since 1996.
