DUSHANBE, April 23, Asia-Plus  — A new department for prospecting for mineral resources abroad will be established at Tajikistan’s Main Geology Directorate soon, Azim Ibrohim, the head of the Main Geology Directorate, announced at a press conference in Dushanbe on April 22. 

According to him, a protocol of intentions on establishment of an association that will be engaged in prospecting for mineral resources in foreign countries, including Afghanistan, was signed with one company, which wanted to remain unnamed, on Monday.  

              “The process of coordination of constituent documents with other relevant ministries and organizations is under way,” said Azim Ibrohim.  “The Main Geology Directorate has come to an agreement with its foreign partner on exploring coal deposits and underground water resources in Afghanistan.  

He added that the foreign company intends to invest in exploration works and Tajik specialists will prospect for coal and water resources.
