DUSHANBE, May 4, 2016, Asia-Plus – The European Union (EU) plans to provide another budget support tranche to Tajikistan, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

According to the MoF Secretariat, this issue was discussed here on May 3 during a meeting of Tajik Finance Minister Abdujabbor Qurboniyon with the EU delegation.

The two sides reportedly discussed reforms being carried out in Tajikistan in the areas of health and social protection and improvements in public finance management.

“The meeting participants pointed out successful and efficient character of cooperation between Tajikistan and European Union,” the Secretariat said.

The budget support tranches are provided in the framework of the Human Development Support Program.

We will recall that the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan and the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan on August 29, 2012 announced the release of € 6 million and 287.5 thousand budget support tranche to Tajikistan’s budget.  The release of the payment reportedly confirmed that Tajikistan has met the conditions of the program, i.e. improvements in Public Finance Managements and the implementation of some reform measures in the areas of health and social protection.
