DUSHANBE, May 13, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament has seconded president’s edicts concerning recent staff changes.
A regular sitting of second session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fifth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on May 13.
Parliamentarians, in particular, seconded president’s edict on appointing Zafar Azimi deputy head of the Accounts Chamber of Tajikistan.
Zafar Azimi, who is from Hisor district by origin, had previously headed one of departments at the anticorruption agency. He has scientific degree of Candidate of Sciences in Economics.
The Majlisi Namoyandagon also seconded president’s proposal to appoint Ms. Rajabmoh Badriddinova Children’s Ombudsman also deputy head of the Ombudsman’s Office in Tajikistan.
Ms. Badriddinova is a lawyer by profession and she has worked with the Ombudsman’s Office.
The Ombudsman for Children has two main roles: to promote the rights and welfare of children and young people up to 18 years old living in Tajikistan; and to deal with complaints made by or on behalf of children in relation to the actions of public organizations.
The powers of the Majlisi Namoyandagon include the formation of the central Commission for Elections and Referendums of the Republic of Tajikistan, the election and recall of the chairman, deputy chairman and members of it upon the recommendation of the President of the Republic; the submitting to an all-people’s discussion of draft laws and other important State and social questions; the confirmation of socio-economic programs; the giving of authorization to issue and receive a State credit; the ratification and denunciation of international treaties; the designation of a referendum; the formation of courts; the confirmation of State symbols; the confirmation of State awards; the confirmation of edicts of the President concerning the appointment and relieving of the Chairman of the National Bank and his deputies; the establishment of military titles, diplomatic ranks, and other special titles; and the effectuation of other powers to be determined by the Constitution and by laws.
