DUSHANBE, February 22, Asia-Plus  — Two persons were killed and seven others were injured in two separate avalanches that occurred in Varzob and Shahriston yesterday, Asia-Plus has learned at the Ministry of Interior (MoI).  

The source at a MoI said that five children were buried by an avalanche that occurred in the Takob area, Varzob district Thursday afternoon.  Four children were rescued but one teenager was killed by the avalanche.   

The second avalanche occurred on the Shahriston pass, in the area where a camp of Chinese builders working on rehabilitation of the highway from Dushanbe to Uzbek border is located, the same day, leaving one dead and three injured, the source said.
