DUSHANBE, July 15, 2016, Asia-Plus – Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda yesterday visited the Shohin (formerly Shouroobod) district to get acquainted with the pace of rehabilitation of the Kulob-Darvoz highway, according to the Prime Minister Secretariat.

Kuwait’s Combined Group Contracting and Turkey’s Tekar Teknik Arstirma Research Limited Company have been elected as contractors for the Kulob-Darvoz road rehabilitation project.

The prime minister reportedly expressed satisfaction with the quality of works.  At the same time, he criticized the slow pace of the rehabilitation of the road.

We will recall that during his previous visit to the Shohin district that took place on June 2, Rasoulzoda sharply criticized the quality of work on rehabilitation of the Shohin-Shohon section of the Kulob-Darvoz highway.  His criticism, directed at officials of the Ministry of Transport (MoT), came during inspection of works on rehabilitation of the mentioned road.

The project on rehabilitation of the Kulob-Darvoz highway, in particular, provides for rehabilitation of a 40-kilometer Shohin-Shohon section of this road and construction of ten bridges with a total length of 1,121 meters.

The project was launched in 2011 and supposed to be finished in 2014 but its deadline has been extended until the end of this year.
