DUSHANBE, August 16, 2016, Asia-Plus — Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Zakir Hasanov, discussed bilateral military cooperation between the two countries during talks in Baku, Azerbaijan on August 15.

Media reports in Azerbaijan and Russia say the ministers also discussed ways to resolve the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict over the disputed breakaway Azerbaijani region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Shoigu was quoted as saying during the August 15 talks that Moscow-Baku military ties “need adjustment,” adding that security in the Caspian region is of a great importance for neighboring countries.

Hasanov said Shoigu”s visit “is of significant importance for the development of bilateral military cooperation” between the two nations, according to Russian news agency

reports a delegation led by Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu on August 15 visited the Heydar Aliyev Center.

Director of the center Anar Alakbarov highlighted the activity of the center, which is recognized as one of the world’s masterpieces in architecture.

Shoigu arrived in Baku on a two-day working visit on August 14.  He met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev upon his arrival.
