Shukurjon Zuhurov, the Speaker for the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament), today met in St Petersburg with Vladimir Vityuk, the Speaker for the Parliament of Moldova, on the sidelines of sessions of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Parliamentary Assembly.

The two reportedly discussed issues related to parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and Moldova.

They, in particular, noted that legal foundation of bilateral cooperation between the two countries was dated and time has come to conclude new agreements, Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

The Parliament of Moldova is the unicameral assembly.  Its 101 MPs are elected by popular vote every 4 years.
