A four-day joint anti-terror exercise was launched in the Tajik northern Sughd province on April 4.

The exercise involving sub-units of power-wielding structures deployed in the province is being conducted in three stages at the Choruk-Daron training ground.

“The exercise is being conducted in the framework of the unified plan of military training under the leadership of the General Staff of Tajikistan’s Armed Forces,” Faridoun Mahmadalizoda, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the purpose of the exercise involving military personnel along with armored vehicles, artillery and combat helicopters is to rehearse coordination and interaction in anti-terrorist missions in plains and deserts.
