A resident of the northern city of Konibodom has been detained at the Khujand airport on suspicion of involvement in smuggling of ancient Russian coins.

According to the press center of the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan, an inspection of passengers on the Khujand-Moscow flight found six ancient Russian coins (Russian imperial copper coin 5 kopeks 1767, Catherine the Great, four copper coins dated 1738, 1744, 1751 and 1753 as well as the copper 1-kopek coin dated of 1879) hidden in a luggage of the 23-year-old resident of Konibodom, A.H. 

All the confiscated coins reportedly have cultural, historical and numismatic value.
