Large-scale military exercises for exercise for military units deployed in Sughd province and local reservists will be launched on August 14, Colonel Faridoun Mahmadalizoda, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the exercises involving servicemen of military units deployed in the province, border guards, reservists, local police, civilian support service and military materiel will run through August 17.

“The purpose of the exercises being held at Chorukhdayron and Nourafshon training grounds is to rehearse organization of territorial defense and mobilization of reservists,” Colonel Mahmadalizoda said, noting the Defense Minister Sherali Mirzo will be in overall command of the war game.     

Recall, similar military exercise were conducted for reservists from Khatlon province from March 27 to 30 and for reservists from the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) from July 17 to 20.
