Energy experts do not confirm information on annual increase in tariffs for light

Date:

Tajik energy companies deny information about a phased 30 percent increase in electricity tariffs for the population in the next four years.

"In reality, electricity tariffs are too low, and we need a phased increase in tariffs. However, any decision by the government on this issue has not yet been made, “Barki Tojik" told to AP. Also did not confirm this information in the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources. "We do not have such intentions yet," the source in the ministry said. .

Meanwhile, some media referring to the prepared by the Ministry of Energy and approved by the Government of Tajikistan program reported that electricity prices this year will grow by 7%. Over the next two years – by 8%, and in 2020 – by 10%.

Also, according to this program, it is planned to raise electricity tariffs to other categories of consumers: 9.9% in 2018, 8.4% in 2019 and 15% in 2020..

It is noted that future increases in electricity tariffs will not concern only the Tajik aluminum company.

Earlier, some international financial institutions recommended to the Tajik authorities the increase of electricity tariffs "for further planning of financially sustainable solutions to the energy crisis in the republic.".

At the end of July this year, the head of the antimonopoly service under the government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sadi Kodirzoda, told reporters that the government working group is considering the proposal of “Barki Tojik” regarding changes in electricity tariffs. Kodirzoda noted that the members of the working group, taking into account the financial status of “Barki Tojik” and social status, prepared their conclusions and forwarded them to the government of the republic.

"We offered our conclusions to the government of the republic. In our conclusions, we talk about interest, taking into account the expenses of Barki Tojik. That is, by how many percent we can increase the electricity tariffs taking into account the expenses of the energy holding. The government, taking into account our proposals, will make a unified decision " he said.

Tariffs for electricity for the last time in Tajikistan were raised in February this year, but the population did not touch this increase. The government commissioned to increase electricity tariffs for only four of the eight categories of consumers. In particular, tariffs have grown for consumers of the budgetary sphere, communal branch and sports complexes; Electric transport; Water pumps and pump stations of machine irrigation, repair and production bases of the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation under the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan; Reclamation vertical wells, reclamation pumping stations.
