Minister of Education and Science of Tajikistan Nuriddin Said signed an order according to which students and schoolchildren will be required to attend the classes on September 1 despite the celebration in the country of Idi Qurbon. The Ministry of Education argues that this decision does not violate anyone's rights.

On September 1, all educational institutions in Tajikistan will celebrate the Day of Knowledge, and in accordance with the beginning of the academic year, students and schoolchildren will be required to attend classes, press secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan Ehson Khushbakht told “AP”.

According to him, the decision that the Day of Knowledge will not be postponed for another day was adopted by the Ministry's collegium. “On the basis of the decision, the minister signed an appropriate order. And there is no violation of the law or anyone's rights, since the Knowledge Day is also fixed in the law on holidays, and it is celebrated without a day off, – the ministry representative said. –  since the Muslim holiday is celebrated for three days, students will be able to participate in its celebrations on Saturday and Sunday”.

The head of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Tajikistan Ramazon Odinazoda also assures that the Ministry of Education does not violate the legislation.

“All students must come to classes on September 1 in accordance with the Day of Knowledge, this holiday is also prescribed in the law on holidays. The exact date of Muslim holidays in the law is not prescribed, it is determined by the Committee for Religious Affairs. “Day of  Knowledge” Is defined by law, and Idi Qurbon by the authorized body, therefore in the priority here is that holiday, the date of which is prescribed by law. And so there are no violations here. Students should go to school on September 1st”, – Ramazon Odinazoda said.

Recall that the decision that Idi Qurbon will be celebrated on September 1 was adopted by the Ulema Council of the Islamic Center of Tajikistan. Last Friday imam-hatibs on Friday prayers were the first to say that schoolchildren will have to go to school in Idi Qurbon. At that time, the Ministry of Education still kept silent.
