DUSHANBE, November 9, Asia-Plus  –, Asia-Plus has learned at the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI).

The source at a MoEI said that during his stay in Tajikistan, Iranian minister is also planned to familiarize himself with a progress of work on construction of the Anzob tunnel and will visit sites for construction of the Chormaghzak tunnel and hydropower stations Shurob on the Vakhsh River and Ayni on the Zarafshon River.

Besides, Mr. Fattah is also scheduled to visit the Qairoqqum hydropower plan in northern Tajikistan.

Tomorrow, Iranian minister is expected to hold talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.  The meeting is supposed to result in signing of two protocols: on speeding up construction of the Sangtuda-2 stations and on the intent to construct small power plants Shurob and Ayni.

We will recall that the construction of the Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power station on the Vakhsh River in southern Tajikistan officially commenced on February 20, 2006.  The station will be finished in 2010.  Chief contractor of the project is Iran’s Sangab.
