DUSHANBE, November 9, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society (RCS) has provided assistance to people affected by yesterday’s domestic gas blast in Dushanbe. 

Madina Sayfidddinova, an information officers, RCS, told Asia-Plus volunteers from RCS along with representatives from the relevant agencies helped evacuate residents of the affected house.

As it had been reported earlier, two persons were killed and at least five others were injured by the domestic gas blast in a nine-storey residential building in Dushanbe”s Zarafshon area.  

According to the ministry of interior, among those killed is an Iranian citizen who rented an apartment in that building.  All residents of the house have been evacuated. The blast fully destroyed the first two floors.  Criminal proceedings have been instituted in connection with the fact of gas blast. Investigation is under way.  Gas leak is among the main clues concerning the incident.
