Tajikistan and Kazakhstan vow to boost bilateral economic cooperation and increase trade to two billion U.S. dollars.  Last year, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan valued at some 840 million U.S. dollars.

Mr. Zavqi Zavqizoda, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, and Ms. Dana Zhunussova, Vice-Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, discussed the process of implementation of the roadmap for bilateral economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in the Kazakh capital, Astana, last week, according to the press center of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).

The roadmap was reportedly adopted at a meeting of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev in March this year.

Zavqizoda and Zhunussova expressed satisfaction with the level of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan and discussed the roadmap that provides for specific measures to increase the bilateral trade, launch joint ventures and attract investments in Tajikistan’s economy, MoEDT press center said.

Last year, the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan amounted to 838.9 million U.S. dollars, which was 24.1 percent more than in 2016.  Over the first four months of this year, the two-way trade between the two countries has valued at 268.5 million U.S. dollars, which is 6 percent more than in the same period last year.
