Tajik law enforcement authorities are hunting for creators of three fake pages of Dushanbe mayor on Facebook.

The Dushanbe mayor’s office and the Interior Ministry of Tajikistan are trying to figure out for what purpose those three fake pages of Dushanbe mayor have been created on Facebook.

“No negative information has been posted on those pages so far, but those who created them should know that they have acted illegally,” says the Dushanbe mayor’s office.

The Dushanbe mayor’s office has asked the law enforcement authorities to find out who and for what purpose created those fake pages.

One of these fake pages was created on Facebook recently – in May this year.

As far as Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali is concerned, he does not yet have his own official page on social networking sites.

Meanwhile, an official source at the Prosecutor-General’s Office says that the country’s legislation does not stipulate punishment for crating fake pages on social networking sites.

“But if these pages infringe upon rights and freedoms of people, contain illegal calls or insult honor and dignity of people, creators of such pages will be brought to justice,” the source added.
