The Majlisi Namoyandgon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) today endorsed amendment offered by the government to the country’s law on insuring savings of physical entities. The amendments, in particular, provide for increasing the amount of savings compensation from 350 to 500 calculated indicators.
Speaking at the Majlisi Namoyandagon session, the deputy head of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT), Sirojiddin Ikromi, noted that when licenses of Tajprombank and Fononbank had been withdrawn, accountholders had been compensated with 17,500 somoni. “The amendments provided for increasing the amount of savings compensation to 25,000 somni,” Ikromi said.
After Tajprombank and Fononbank were liquidated, the state-run Savings Deposit Fund provided 24 million somoni to pay savings compensations to their customers, the NBT official added.
