Tajikistan reportedly behind all former Soviet republics in terms of wage rate

According to findings of monitoring conducted by Russia’s National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE), Tajikistan is behind all the former Soviet republics in terms of wage rate.

HSE’s report titled Inter-Country Comparisons of Wage Rates in 2011-2017 notes that real wage in Tajikistan last year amounted to 137.00 U.S. dollars.  It is reportedly the lowest wage in the post-Soviet area.        

Among the CIS member nations, the highest wage was reported in the Russian Federation – 670.9 U.S. dollars.  Russia is followed by Kazakhstan (459.1 U.S dollars) and Belarus (421.9 U.S. dollars).

In Azerbaijan, real wage last year reported amounted to 306.7 U.S. dollars, Moldova – 308.4 U.S. dollars, Ukraine – 272.9 U.S. dollars, and Kyrgyzstan – 216.3 U.S. dollars.
