As it had been reported earlier, a high-ranking governmental delegation is accompanying President Rahmon on his first official visit to Azerbaijan.  The main talks are scheduled for today.  President Rahmon will hold private meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart, President Ilham Aliyev, and then negotiations in an enlarged format with participation of members of the governments of the two countries will be held.  During his stay in Baku, Rahmon is also scheduled to hold talks with other high-ranking Azerbaijani state officials.

We will recall that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was on his official visit to Tajikistan on March 15-16 this year.  On March 15, he met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.  The sides noted that attached great importance to their bilateral relations and indicated their readiness to expand cooperation in all spheres, including economy and trade.  Aliyev also noted that Azerbaijan has decided to open an embassy in Dushanbe.  During Aliyev’s visit to Dushanbe, a number of bilateral cooperation documents, including an agreement on visa-free travel, were signed.
